History never repeats... but it does rhyme!
Saint Thomas Becket (of Canterbury) was murdered by orders of King Henry II and 365 years later, Saint Thomas More was murdered by King Henry VIII. On both occasions, a King Henry simply wanted a Thomas to put power, profit and short-term personal gain before truth.
Becket: "Whosoever wisely examines the works of God will speedily discover what is next to be done. Do you not know that the largest trees, which have required years to grow, are cut down in one hour?"
More: "I die the king's faithful servant, but God's first. If honor were profitable, everybody would be honorable."
In a time when courage, wisdom and fortitude are much needed, St. Thomas Becket and St. Thomas More, pray for us!
