She was flying for me. John Denver sang those words. He was supposed to be in the Challenger that fateful day.

I was in middle school. The teachers had set up TV sets in every classroom so we could watch history in the making. Live.

We were numb afterwards. What happened?

I've seen footage of Christa's parents watching the launch from Cape Canaveral.

Let it affect you.

So often, we try to manage our emotions. Sometimes, you need to just let it affect you.

John Denver continued, "She was flying for everyone. She gave us her life, she gave us her spirit, and all she could give."
